Description

You will find many vehicle manufacturers use this style of spring clip. These kind of clips are often disregarded in motorsports as they are simply harder to use than a simple jubilee clip. However, the reason why manufacturers (most notably VW) still use them over a jubilee clips, as an engine will go through many different heat cycles ranging from below zero to well over 100 Deg c. Most hoses and pipes are made from rubber which contract and expand as temperature changes. These clips are essentially self adjusting meaning if the diameter of the hose changes it will always stay clamped. A jubilee clip could lose all its clamping force in extreme circumstances and cause a potential leak.
These clips may be harder to use but their benefit is undeniable.
